MOPLA at OCC- be there or be [ ]

This month is the culmination of a year’s worth of coordinating, scheduling, invoicing, purchase ordering, catering, photographing, video’ing, phone calls, emails, texts, arguments, discussions, praises, gratification, framing, mounting, book publishing, guest speaking, and AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHY. Would I do it again, sure, why not! If you live in OC and haven’t seen the shows, you are lame. For everyone else, thanks for your attendance and support, it’s been a fantastic voyage.

Here’s a little recap vid from my class shooting trip at Oakley HQ in Foothill Ranch. Would have been a lot more fun had I not had bronchitis and a sinus infection, but all things considered, the pups got to run in the yard with the big dogs for a day.

Every so often, emphasis on the every so often part, I’ll shoot a wedding. What it really comes down to is whether or not I like the couple. In the past, I would shoot any wedding that came my way, because as an emerging photographer, I was hungry! I can’t tell you how many terrible experiences I had with Bridezillas and Momzillas! For years I said no way, never again will I shoot weddings. Thus my transformation into an architectural photographer began. Fortunately, Courtney and Manny were really cool from day one. Super mellow people, easy going, go with the flow. The wedding was just as they are; no stress. Thanks to Courtney and Manny for reminding me that weddings, when done right, can be fun to shoot.

Best Western Rowland Heights- two words…Coconut Bay! Besides the good eats next to the hotel, this was the first job I shot with my new friends Anne and Jovy. This was an example of how easy my job can be when working with the right people. I hate sounding like a brown-noser, and if they weren’t cool, I’d find a way to right about this shoot which didn’t include them. Brought along a handful of new assistants too- Shane, Josh, and Spencer. Big shout out to these guys! This shoot was funny- the hotel was booked solid with Chinese tourists who were all taking pictures of us taking pictures.

A couple weeks ago I shot a job for VHA, which is part of the Boost Mobile family. Waiting for sundown, I had time to check out the cell phones and data packages from Boost. Is it just me or is AT&T taking everyone for a ride on their monthly plans! I pay just under $100/month to be part of the Apple club, but I have to say, come time for contract renewal, it may be time to jump the Jobs ship and go low brow smart phone shopping. Furthermore, I don’t see Apple hiring me to shoot any of their stores, so screw ‘em!
